Vertigo and Balance Problems

The vestibular system is a sensory system that works with the inner ear and the brain to control balance, coordination of movement and your position in space. When the vestibular system is affected, you may experience issues with balance, dizziness and nausea, and can be at an increased risk of falls. You may feel unstable when walking or changing positions, and may feel more clumsy than usual. You may also experience vertigo, which is a sensation where the room feels like its spinning around you. Vertigo and balance problems can be extremely unpleasant and can interfere with your ability to complete daily tasks.

How Can We Help?

Physiotherapy can be very effective in treating vertigo and balance problems, particularly if your vertigo is linked to certain movements or positions. Our therapists are trained in the assessment and treatment of common conditions that cause balance issues or vertigo. We will go through a number of questions with you in order to determine the cause of your problem. From here we will perform the appropriate treatment and work with you to develop a management plan to work on your balance and vertigo.
