Physiotherapy can help with your headaches!

Do you suffer from regular headaches that are impacting the quality of your day? There’s a chance physio could help you!

There are a number of different headaches that people can experience, with the main ones being migraine headaches, tension type headaches and cervicogenic headaches.

Migraines:

Migraines are typically characterised by one sided, severe, throbbing pain that is worse with exertion and can be accompanied by nausea, light sensitivity or sound sensitivity.

Tension Headaches:

Tension headaches are typically described as bilateral, dull aching headaches that can range from mild to severe.

Cervicogenic Headaches:

Cervicogenic headaches arise from the upper cervical spine or neck joints and can present with a range of symptoms, but typically include one sided headache pain paired with neck pain or restricted range of motion on that same side.

Physiotherapy can help manage pain and symptoms of all the above types of headaches. We use a range of manual therapy techniques to mobilise the joints and release tight muscles which can help to alleviate some of the symptoms of the above headaches. We can also provide strengthening and mobility exercises to help provide long term relief from symptoms.
