Whiplash Injuries

Whiplash injuries occur when the head gets thrown back and forth, often as a result of a motor vehicle accident or contact sports. When this occurs, you may experience a range of symptoms, dependent on which structures in the neck have been injured. Potential symptoms can include dull, achy pain or sharp pain with movements, stiffness, headaches and pins and needles or weakness down the arm.

How Can We Help?

Physiotherapy can help to assess which structures have been potentially irritated or injured during the whiplash incident and grade the severity of the injury. From here we can provide hands on treatment to help reduce pain and sensitivity in the early stages. We will then work with you to develop an appropriate treatment and management plan depending on the grade of injury you have sustained in order to reduce your pain and improve your day to day function.
